The challenge: engagement between society meetings

Doktu gives oncology societies a private space where professional conversations can continue between conferences, meetings, and email announcements. The product needed to combine an ongoing community feed with live audio events while keeping membership under society control.

The development challenge was to make those workflows work together: approved members could join, participate in discussions, discover events, and enter a live room from the same mobile app.

What TowerHouse delivered

TowerHouse’s engagement covered mobile application development, the backend API, a web administration panel, quality assurance, and app-store submission support. We implemented the supplied product designs in React Native and Expo, with Laravel and PostgreSQL supporting the application.

The delivery brought together member onboarding, feeds and threaded replies, event scheduling, live audio, notification routing, and the administrative workflows needed to operate a private community. The iPhone and Android releases provide a concrete launch outcome for this case.

Designing for a private professional community

Membership access begins with a society-managed whitelist and email verification. This keeps onboarding connected to the society’s roster rather than opening the product as a public social network.

The web admin panel gives the operating team tools for roster management and content moderation. The delivery scope included reporting and blocking workflows, account controls, pinned announcements, and basic community activity metrics.

Doktu is a professional engagement platform. It is not clinical decision support, and its community rules prohibit patient-identifiable information.

Connecting discussion feeds with live audio

The feed supports posts, images, link previews, and nested replies so members can follow a conversation over time. Scheduled events give the community another way to gather, with live audio and in-room chat.

Live audio required more than placing a call button on a screen. The implementation included native audio integration, host and participant controls, background audio behavior, room lifecycle handling, and notifications that route members to the relevant discussion or event.

We used background jobs for work such as link-preview retrieval so feed interactions did not have to wait for external metadata requests. These engineering choices supported the product’s two main modes of participation: ongoing discussion and real-time conversation.

Launch and next steps

Doktu is released for iPhone and Android. Download the iPhone version from the App Store, or visit Doktu’s official website for current product information. The launch brings private discussions and live audio into one mobile product, giving participating societies a foundation for ongoing member engagement.
